This feels somewhat bittersweet; our last post in Colorado. Training camp wrapped up this afternoon with a ride through Garden of the Gods. The views were incredible and the ride was just good fun like the ups and downs of a roller coaster. At one point, I looked around and found I was completely alone - lost, if you will, somewhat praying that the road connected back to where I needed to end up and somewhat praying that I stay lost. It is amazing how certain moments completely transport you to another place. Dare I say, it felt euphoric to be completely surrounded by peace and nature.
The grand finale was a climb up the "incline" at Pikes Peak. The Incline is a set a railroad ties constructed into what that resembles stairs that climb one mile straight up the side of the mountain. After 15 hours of extremely challenging cycling and running, this last mile of stairs what quad-screamingly difficult. But the satisfaction felt after making it to the top was the greatest reward. (And Marc was there to greet me!)
And so, P2 Colorado Camp has successfully come to a close. I feel stronger both physically and mentally. I am proud of what I did this week. I was pushed harder than I have ever been pushed. I was challenged more than I had ever been challenged. These were the most difficult four days training, physically and mentally, I have ever done. Thanks Coach, for making me a stronger athlete!
